MiSight® 1 Day — The Contact Lens Built to Slow Your Child’s Myopia

Not every child wants to be the kid in glasses. For active kids, young athletes, and children who’d rather not deal with frames at all, MiSight® 1 Day gives you a way to manage myopia progression without changing how your child moves through their day.

What Is MiSight® 1 Day?

MiSight® 1 Day is a daily disposable soft contact lens — the first contact lens FDA-approved specifically to slow myopia progression in children, cleared in 2019. A dual-focus optical design corrects distance vision while simultaneously signaling the eye to slow its growth, the same underlying principle behind Stellest®, delivered through a soft contact lens instead of a spectacle lens.

Why Families Choose MiSight® Over Glasses

  • No frames to fog up, slip, or break during sports and activity

  • A fresh lens every day — no cleaning solution, no case, no maintenance routine

  • Full peripheral vision, unlike glasses frames

  • A natural next step for children who are already daily contact lens candidates

Is My Child a Candidate?

MiSight® is approved for children starting treatment between ages 8 and 12. Candidacy depends on your child’s comfort with contact lens wear and their ability to handle daily insertion, removal, and hygiene responsibly — something we assess directly during a fitting.

The Fitting Process at MEC

A MiSight® fitting starts with a comprehensive contact lens evaluation, followed by hands-on training in insertion and removal. We schedule follow-up visits to confirm comfort, fit, and that the lens is doing its job — the same structured monitoring every child on our myopia management program receives, regardless of which option they choose.

Backed by Objective Monitoring

Alongside every MiSight® fitting, we track progress on the Topcon MYAH, a biometer that measures axial length — the real-world growth of the eye and the most sensitive marker of myopia progression. It's how we know the lens is doing its job, beyond just checking the prescription.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MiSight? as effective as Stellest? lenses?

Both are FDA-authorized for pediatric myopia management and supported by strong clinical evidence. The right choice usually comes down to lifestyle and lens-wear readiness rather than one being universally “better” — we’ll walk through both during your child’s evaluation.

Can my child swim or play sports in MiSight? lenses?

MiSight® lenses are designed for daily wear and are removed and discarded each evening. We’ll walk you through specific guidance for sports and water activities during the fitting.

What age can my child start MiSight??

Treatment typically begins between ages 8 and 12, based on both the FDA-approved age range and your child’s readiness for daily contact lens care.

Does insurance cover MiSight??

Coverage varies by plan and benefit structure. Our team reviews your options during the consultation.
