If your eyes feel dry, gritty, burning, watery, or intermittently blurry—especially with screens or driving—dry eye is a common, treatable condition.
At Michigan Eye Consultants, we focus on identifying why it’s happening and building a plan that fits your eyes and your routine.
Burning, stinging, or gritty “sand” feeling
Watery eyes (yes—dry eye can cause tearing)
Redness, irritation, or light sensitivity
Blurry vision that comes and goes
Contact lens discomfort (“I can’t wear them anymore”)
Eye fatigue with screens or reading

Personalized care — tailored recommendations, not generic drops
Root-cause evaluation — we look at tear quality, lids, and gland function
Modern in-office options — IPL, RF, lid hygiene, and more when appropriate
Clear guidance — you’ll leave knowing what’s happening and what to do next
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
IPL is a non-invasive light-based treatment that helps reduce inflammation and support healthier oil gland function in the eyelids—especially for meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). For many patients, it’s one of the most effective ways to improve comfort and tear quality over time.
Radio Frequency (RF)
RF is a gentle, heat-based treatment used to warm the eyelids and support healthier meibomian gland function. When the glands are blocked or sluggish, the tear film becomes unstable and symptoms flare. RF can help improve the quality of the oil layer and reduce day-to-day irritation. For many patients with MGD, IPL and RF work well together as part of a structured treatment plan.
Punctal Plugs
Punctal plugs are tiny, biocompatible inserts placed in the tear ducts to help keep natural tears on the eye longer. It’s quick, safe, and often helpful when dryness persists despite drops or other therapies.
NuLids
NuLids is a gentle, non-invasive eyelid hygiene treatment that helps remove debris and bacteria along the lid margin. It supports healthier eyelids and can help improve comfort—especially when blepharitis contributes to dry eye.
Amniotic Membrane
For moderate to severe ocular surface irritation, amniotic membrane therapy can support healing and reduce inflammation when other treatments haven’t been enough.

Our dry eye team will:
Listen carefully to your symptoms and daily triggers
Evaluate tear function and eyelid health
Identify the root cause (not just the irritation)
Build a personalized plan—from simple steps to advanced treatment
Burning, stinging, watering, squinting through blur—none of that has to be your “normal.”
